Under YOUR Influence aims to educate parents on raising drug and alcohol problem free teenagers.

Jade Lewis has dedicated her life to helping people break free from addiction and rebuild their lives. She holds a Master of Criminology with a specialised interest in Youth Offending, has sixteen years' experience working with women and children in the Justice system, and is an award winning author. She has been a regular high school speaker for over 20 years, is a parent educator, a board member of Adult and Teen Challenge, charity founder, and has a passion for helping female prisoners. She shares her compelling life experience of overcoming addiction to educate, empower, and connect with her audiences. 

In this parent session, Jade will share insights into:

• Understanding adolescent behaviour - Why some kids do the right thing when presented with scenarios involving drugs/alcohol/vaping and others do the wrong thing
• Currents trends in the drug and alcohol space
• How to communicate your concerns
• Teaching teenagers they have the right to say NO
• High school parties
• Teaching teenagers responsibility
• When and where to get help
• Types of treatment available
• Family roles
• Being a positive role model

She will cover these topics by introducing five key strategies for parents of children/adolescents facing drug and alcohol exposure and/or use, including:

1. Connect: Creating a good parent-teenager relationship
2. Prevent: Talking with teenagers about drugs and alcohol
3. Intervene: What if my teenager is using drugs and alcohol?
4. Treat: What if my teenager keeps using drugs?
5. Transition: Staying clean after treatment
