This engaging and interactive 3-hour workshop will build your understanding of financial and economic abuse and improve your responses to it. The session is delivered in two parts:

Part 1 - Understanding Financial Abuse:

  • Defining financial and economic abuse
  • Tactics of financial abuse 
  • Prevalence and impacts
  • Domestic and family violence context
  • The law and economic abuse.

Part 2 - Responding to Financial Abuse:

  • Recognising potential indicators of financial abuse
  • Developing ethical responses to people experiencing financial abuse by:
    • Understanding the impact of financial stress and trauma on victim-survivors
    • Appreciating the situational logic of their decision-making
  • Learning about the resources and supports available.
