As people age, it is common for their visual function to decrease and this is associated with a higher risk of falls. Older adults with vision impairment are twice as likely to fall as those without vision loss. Eye care practitioners and allied health professionals play a key role in preventing falls, with opportunities for collaboration and referral.

Join Injury Matters and UWA for the “Understanding vision: Multidisciplinary strategies for falls prevention” workshop on Tuesday, 24 March 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm where we will explore:

The link between vision and falls
The role eye care practitioners have in falls prevention
Barriers and enablers to the implementation of falls advice
Falls screening in consultation
Referral pathways and opportunities for collaboration

Who should attend?

Eye care practitioners, Optometrists, Ophthalmologists, Pharmacists, Podiatrists, Physiotherapists, Exercise Physiologists, Occupational Therapists, Nurses, Aged Care Workers and GPs.

Please note, this training will be held in Albany.
