    Event description

    Join the UN Global Compact Network Australia for our first in-person event in Adelaide hosted by ResourceCo.

    Our Networking Evenings provide an opportunity to engage with like-minded organisations, connect with team members of the UN Global Compact Network Australia as well as to hear from our participants on what action they are taking to advance the Sustainable Development Goals.

    Dr Evan Center - Environment and Climate Change Manager, UN Global Compact Network Australia

    Dr Evan Beaumont Center is an experienced environment and climate change professional with expertise in environmental research, strategy and partnerships. At the UNGCNA, Evan manages our activities and programming related to Environment and Climate Change—in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals and the UN Global Compact Network’s Ten Principles.

    Evan’s career has been driven by a passion for environment, climate change and other sustainability initiatives. He holds a PhD in Communication (University of Kansas) and has published and presented extensively on environmental communication in relation to advocacy, enterprise and economics. Prior to joining the UNGCNA, he utilised his research expertise to develop cutting-edge programmes and partnerships within university, corporate, government and not-for-profit sectors.

    Michelle Howie - Program Lead SA Zero, Committee for Adelaide

    Michelle Howie is Program Lead of SA ZERO, the flagship sustainability initiative of the Committee for Adelaide. SA ZERO is a cluster of local business, government, and academia, and facilitates dialogues and initiatives to accelerate South Australia’s Zero Carbon, Zero Waste pathways. Michelle is also a Future Networks Engineer at SA Power Networks, and on the Advisory Council for the Global Shapers Community. 

    She previously worked in Geneva, Switzerland at the World Economic Forum coordinating their climate technology community.

    Greta Korthaus - Stakeholder Engagement Manager, UN Global Compact Network Australia

    Greta is a Business Development and Relationship Management professional with over 15 years’ experience in sales, account management, product development and project management in the environmental sector (national not-for-profit, international for-profit).

    Greta creates business value by understanding corporate strategies and aligning those with impactful sustainability narratives and outcomes. She focuses on driving positive change and retention by deep and long-term engagement with companies rather than short-term transactions.

    Before joining the UN Global Compact Network Australia, Greta worked as the Senior Business and Innovation Manager at environmental not-for-profit Greenfleet where she developed globally innovative products and significantly increased supporters from across the corporate sector.

    Previously, she worked in the global environmental certification space with international clients, managing the accounts of hotel groups and other tourism businesses to meet international sustainability standards. In 2011, she opened EarthCheck’s first satellite office in Melbourne.

    Greta has a double master’s degree in social science (Germany) and various training qualifications.

    Brad Lemmon - Chief Executive Officer, Recycling & Waste, ResourceCo

    Brad has over 30 years of experience in the construction materials and mining services industries, bringing a range of skills, spanning operations & logistics, commercial and strategy, with key strengths in building high performing teams and capturing growth opportunities.

    Brad has formal qualifications in Strategic Economic Analysis & Management, and is a graduate of the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

    Professor Ian Overton - Chief Executive, Green Industries SA

    Ian is the Chief Executive, Green Industries SA (ex officio). Ian has over 30 years experience in business, research, academia and government, including 17 years with the CSIRO. He has a passion for sustainability and enhancing environmental, social and economic outcomes  and the implementation of the circular economy.  

    Ian is also a Professor (Affiliate), at the Adelaide Business School, University of Adelaide.

    Sanj de Silva - Director, Corporate Affairs & Sustainability, ResourceCo

    Sanj is a global leader in Sustainability, Corporate Affairs, Brand and Marketing, Sanj has over 20 years of experience transforming global brands across Asia, Europe, and Africa.

    She has been instrumental in understanding and capturing the imagination of both internal and external stakeholders across the business to develop strategy and build strong, resilient brands. Since the launch of the UNSDGs, Sanj has worked closely with Corporates and Governments to align business objectives to achieve the global goals.

    She has been listed among Echelon’s 100 New Establishment and 50 most powerful women in Sri Lanka.
