Event description

UNIMA – Applied Puppetry Commission Presentation

Part of the Puppet Power 2025 Conference

With Antje Wegener & Terence Tan

Join Antje Wegener (Germany) and Terence Tan (Singapore), co-leaders of the UNIMA Applied Puppetry Commission, for a powerful session on the global impact of applied puppetry. Antje is a theatre scientist, trauma pedagogue, and therapeutic puppeteer working with families in crisis. Terence is an applied arts practitioner who has delivered puppetry-based relief and social cohesion programs across Southeast Asia.

Together, they’ll explore the definition and scope of “Applied Puppetry,” UNIMA’s role in uniting over 100 countries in this growing field, and efforts to professionalize the practice. They’ll also share details about Strings of Support, a new UNIMA initiative providing mentorship to puppeteers in areas affected by conflict or disaster.

This is a must-attend session for anyone interested in the intersection of puppetry, healing, education, and global collaboration.
