United Nations Day Gala Dinner 2024 - (UNAA NSW Division)
Event description
Join us this year for the UN Day Gala Dinner on Wednesday, 13 November 2024, at the iconic NSW Parliament House. It will be an evening of inspiration as we celebrate the spirit of the UN and reflect on the critical theme of Peace and Security.
In the past 18 months, conflicts between nations have escalated, especially in the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and Africa. Internal peace within many countries has also deteriorated. This year’s Gala Dinner aligns with the UN Secretary-General’s priorities for 2024, focusing on the urgent need for action on global Peace and Security. This theme reflects the UN's New Agenda for Peace, highlighting multilateralism, trust, solidarity, and the principles of the UN Charter and international law.
As UN Secretary-General AntĂłnio Guterres said, "In the Middle East and around the world, we need peace in every sense. Our world cannot afford to wait."
This is your opportunity to engage with eminent business and community leaders, participate in thought-provoking discussions, and enjoy a formal dinner in support of the United Nations’ mission to create a safer, fairer, and more secure world.
Highlights of the evening include live entertainment and the prestigious presentation of the UN Day Honour Award 2024. Past recipients include H.E. The Hon. Ms Sam Mostyn AC, The Hon Michael Kirby AC CMG, Reconciliation Australia, Landcare, and WWF Australia.
We look forward to welcoming you to this flagship UNAA NSW event. Your participation supports vital fundraising efforts and demonstrates your commitment to the UN’s mission for global peace. You’ll have the opportunity to connect with donors, partners, and like-minded individuals who share our dedication to promoting peace and security.
