Event description

Ready to elevate your creative practice?

In this session, Nat Tozer will take you through how artist-run spaces like mothermother can provide the freedom, resources, and community support to take your practice to the next level.

Learn how these spaces offer the opportunity to grow as an artist, connect with like-minded creators, and break out of traditional career paths. You’ll discover how to tap into shared resources, build your network, and create a meaningful impact with your work—without having to follow the standard route.

A bit about mothermother

mothermother is an artist-run initiative with an inclusive kaupapa that offers support and visibility for our community. We hold a strong focus on supporting local artists, and we celebrate our growing connections outside Tāmaki Makaurau.

mothermother promotes under-represented artists and challenges hierarchical curatorial methods by elevating the unity of a healthy network. A stable future for all depends on it. Knowledge is held by the greater group, where the collective aspect of mothermother is enacted through invitation, friendship, gift and reciprocity.

mothermother artists are not necessarily biological mothers, but rather embody a kaupapa of manaakitanga, caretaking and support.

mothermother is founded and organised by Nat Tozer, funded by Creative New Zealand.
