What is MAST?

The MAST program is a 12-week intervention designed specifically for 3-7-year-olds from low SES backgrounds, combining movement and language activities to enhance both motor and language development. Clare Wood’s research team has shown how this innovative approach can help improve children's learning, close the attainment gap, and promote social mobility in the long term.

Professor Clare Wood is an expert in developmental and educational psychology, she has received prestigious awards, including the British Psychology Society’s Award for Excellence in Teaching and the International Reading Association’s Reading/Literacy Research Fellowship. Her research spans over 20 years, focusing on literacy difficulties and the link between spoken and written language.

Currently, she directs the Centre for Research in Language, Education, and Developmental Inequalities and serves as Impact Lead for NTU's Department of Psychology.
