Unlock your region’s economic development with free local technology
Description
Every region has people and organisations working hard to improve local jobs and skills outcomes: employers, education and training providers, employment services, government programs, unions and community groups. Too often, those efforts sit in separate places and are hard for local people to find.
Operating as a social enterprise, Workinitiatives provides free local jobs and skills infrastructure across Australia’s employment regions. Eligible community and government stakeholders can activate a free core Jobs, Skills and Economic Development Hub for their region, using enabling technology to amplify the services and programs that already exist.
In this 45-minute online briefing, you will:
see a live demonstration of a regional jobs, skills and economic development hub
learn how local stakeholders can coordinate existing programs, services and opportunities in one place
understand how employers in eligible communities can advertise local vacancies and connect with local talent
explore the free core platform offer and who is eligible
learn the simple steps to explore a hub for your region.
Who is this for?
This briefing is for anyone working to strengthen jobs, skills and economic outcomes in their region, including:
Local councils and economic development teams
Regional Development Australia (RDA) committees
Local Jobs Coordinators and employment service providers
State and territory government agencies
Unions, industry and employer groups
Community and regional organisations
Education and training providers
If your organisation supports local people into work, helps employers find talent, or promotes your region as a place to live and work, this session is for you.
The session is hosted by Chris Carman, Co-Founder of Workinitiatives.
A recording will be shared with everyone who registers.
FAQs
- Who is Workinitiatives?
As our name suggests, we combine work technology with practical initiatives. We operate as a social enterprise, building the technology and partner programs that help regions and industries connect people with jobs, skills and pathways to opportunity, and strengthen local economic development.
- What is a regional jobs, skills and economic development hub?
It’s a locally branded online destination for your region. It’s where people can find local jobs, employers can reach local talent, and your community can see the programs, services, news and events on offer. It’s connected to the wider Workinitiatives network, so your region gets more reach than a standalone website.
- Is it really free?
Yes, the core hub is free for eligible councils, regional organisations and government stakeholders. Because we operate as a social enterprise, we provide this local infrastructure free so that cost isn’t a barrier to better local outcomes. Custom-branded solutions and additional services outside the core offer may be paid, and we’ll walk through eligibility during the briefing.
- Do we have to replace what we already have?
No. A hub is designed to amplify your existing websites, programs and partnerships, not replace them. It connects what’s already happening so people can find it more easily.
