Unpacking young women’s experiences of intimate partner violence training
Description
This training session explores young women’s experiences of intimate partner violence through the lens of contemporary PhD research, with a focus on survival, resistance, and recovery. Drawing on her doctoral research, Bianca Johnson, PhD Candidate at Monash University, will share key insights into how young women navigate and respond to intimate partner violence, challenging deficit‑based framings and highlighting agency, resilience, and pathways to healing.
The session supports professionals to deepen their understanding of young women’s lived experiences and to reflect on how practice, systems, and responses can be more informed, trauma‑aware, and strengths‑based. This training is relevant for youth, community, and allied professionals seeking to strengthen their capacity to support young women impacted by intimate partner violence.
Afternoon tea will be provided. Car parking is available at the venue and in surrounding streets.
This event is hosted by the Banyule Nillumbik Youth Services Network who run trainings, events & networking sessions for local youth & community professionals in the region
