UNSW has an interesting, inspiring history and unique identity – all of which is captured in UNSW Archives.

Established in 1980, the Archives holds permanent UNSW records that are retained because they are valuable for legal, administrative or historical reasons. In addition to UNSW's own institutional records, the Archives preserves papers from organisations or prominent people who have been associated with UNSW. The Archives retains material that relates to all parts of UNSW, from faculties, divisions and centres to student clubs and societies. UNSW Archives’ collections focus on the life of the university – from its establishment in 1949 right up to the present day.

UNSW Archives span over 1500 metres of physical material and 50TB of digital assets. This includes hundreds of thousands of UNSW photographs, as well as many hours of UNSW video and audio.

Join us to uncover the stories behind UNSW's history, explore remarkable archival collections, and gain a unique perspective on the University's journey from 1949 to today.
