    Event description

Join us for an engaging panel discussion centered on the intersection of queer identity and policymaking at UNSW. This event provides a platform for students, policymakers, and advocates to come together and explore how policies directly impact the LGBTQ+ community on campus. Through thought-provoking dialogue and shared experiences, we'll delve into the process of policymaking, highlight successes and ongoing challenges, and discuss opportunities for meaningful student involvement.

    Our esteemed panelists, including:

    • Associate Professor Bruce Watson (he/him), Pro-Vice Chancellor for Inclusion,
    • Dr Caitlyn McLoughlin (she/her), Manager from the Equity Diversity and Inclusion Division,
    • Angela Griffin (she/her), PhD candidate with the Gendered Violence Research Institute at UNSW, and
    • Brandon Ng (he/him), Senior Case Manager from the UNSW Conduct and Integrity Office,

will offer unique insights into the policymaking process and reflect on past initiatives that have shaped the university's approach to inclusivity and diversity. From addressing barriers to accessibility and support services to fostering a campus culture that celebrates LGBTQ+ identities, this event aims to empower students to actively participate in shaping policies that reflect their needs and aspirations.

Whether you're passionate about LGBTQ+ rights, interested in policymaking, or simply curious about how policies are developed and implemented, this event welcomes all members of the UNSW community to join the conversation. Let's come together to amplify queer voices, advocate for positive change, and create a more inclusive future for everyone at UNSW.

This event is open to all students, faculty, and staff. Light refreshments will be provided. We encourage you to RSVP to secure your spot and ensure we have enough seating available.
