Upcycling is a brilliantly creative way to draw attention to the importance of recycling. Finding new uses for materials that have been cast aside as useless, and transforming them into uniquely personalised objects, stimulates our imaginations. With a large focus on upcycling fashion, sustainable fashion and ways we can reuse and recycle, we are also providing a sense of empowerment, bravery and encouragement to girls aged 7-13 (due to personalising this program for this week only, we will not take children younger or older - thank you for your understanding).

Renee is a qualified educator with a wealth of knowledge when it comes to working with children in a supportive environment and the co-owner of the Barely Worn Thrift Markets. Renee is also a parent and sees the value in what this 5 day program has to offer young girls. This 5 day program allows your child to learn the skills and knowledge of upcycling fashion, empowerment, bravery and all reduce, reuse and recycle! This 5 day program is designed to offer something new each day. I look forward to meeting you and your child!

5 Day Attendance - $250 per child (8.30am-2.30pm)

Your child/ren will need to bring their lunchboxes and water bottles each day. Each day, your child/ren will remain on the premises from 8.30am-2.30pm.

Program Outline

Monday 26 and Tuesday 27

Your child/ren will learn how to upcycle pre loved clothing goodies with Leigh from Eco Envy. Leigh has a huge passion for upcycling clothing and is also a qualified teacher. Leigh brings a wealth of knowledge in the world of sewing and she will teach the children how to recycle pieces to give them new life.

Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29

Your child/ren will be involved in upcycle craft tasks over the two days; egg carton flower pots, t-shirt headbands, waterbottle bird feeders, cardboard instruments, paper roll racer, yoghurt cup wind chime and the bed sheet challenge. Renee will be conducting these two days with the idea that children can learn to recycle resources around their house and use these materials for a purpose.

Friday 30 June

Over the day, your child/ren will have a deep focus on empowerment, self love and working on their dreams and goals for their future. We will work together as a team to connect and empower each other.
