Upcycled Tote Bag| KEMPSEY

This event has passed Register

Event description

In this 3 hour workshop you will learn how to sew your own upcycled bag from scratch using scraps of fabric or old clothing you have on hand. We will start with a short introduction on the world of online tutorials and how these can help you sew any simple garment with limited experience.

Then we'll continue to the 'hands on' part of the workshop. Using your own fabric or ours we will explore how to sew your very own Upcycleyd Bag. You can decide to make one for yourself, a friend or a family member.

If you have a tablecloth, pants, doona cover, upholstery fabric or anything at home you would love to make into a bag, bring it along and we can see if we can use this to make your bag! There will be fabrics available for you to choose from too.

We do recommend you have basic knowledge of a sewing machine to attend this class. Feel free to bring your own machine. Please let us know when registering if you will bring your own machine or if you'd like us to supply a machine for you to use.

Annes passion and creativity resides in the world of wearable art, blurring the lines between jewelry and up-cycled fashion pieces.

She draws her jewelry inspiration from nature, by intuitively working with natural objects such as wood, crystals, seashells and fibres

Anne has been a self taught sewer, exploring the vibrant world of up-cycling clothes and bags.
She recently started a fashion Cert II and III to deepen her knowledge of all things sewing, design and pattern making.

A love for up-cycled, minimal waste fashion, has inspired unique, one of a kind bucket hats, bags, jackets and shirts.
All of her sewn creations are made with environmentally conscious fabrics, second hand clothing and op-shop fabric and textiles, such as tablecloths and curtains.

The sought and found fabrics are often small and colourful pieces, lending themselves perfectly to patchwork pieces.
This is a common theme and style through Anne’s fabric works.

Frannie Pannie Creative is the home of Anne’s jewelry and clothing.
The business has organically grown over the past four years. It started with simple necklaces as gifts for friends and family which evolved to a thriving business with an online store, an eclectic market stall branching from Sydney to Byron Bay, with jewelry also being stocked in stores in Newtown, Port Macquarie, Sawtell and Coffs Harbour.

Registration is free but essential. Funded by the NSW Government.
