Upcycled Hair Scrunchies Workshop

Sew, Upcycle & Scrunch!

Put on your creative hat and turn a pre-loved T-shirt, skirt or treasured piece of fabric into a gorgeous new hair scrunchie! No sewing experience required.

Do you have an old favourite Tee or skirt that carries precious memories but is no longer being worn? Bring it along and give it a glamorous new life! You can also bring leftover fabric or bits and pieces from past sewing projects — even small pieces can become something beautiful.

This relaxed, hands-on creative workshop is perfect for beginners who have always wanted to make their own scrunchies — perhaps even one to perfectly match a favourite outfit! Our facilitator Michelle has also collected a wonderful variety of fabrics for you to choose from and mix and match.

With easy-to-follow techniques, patient guidance and plenty of encouragement, you’ll learn how to sew straight lines and hand-stitch the final step. Most importantly, you’ll have fun creating something unique with your own hands.

By the end of the session, you’ll have your very own upcycled scrunchie — and the confidence to make more for yourself, your friends or your loved ones.

What will be covered?

You’ll learn how to:

• Choose and prepare suitable pre-loved fabrics

• Measure, cut and transform fabric into a scrunchie

• Use simple sewing techniques to create neat, straight seams

• Hand-stitch the final opening

• Add your own creative touches to make your scrunchie uniquely yours

Don’t worry if you don’t have suitable fabric — Michelle will have a selection of fabrics available for you to choose from.
