Sat, 7 Jun, 10am - 12pm NZST

Event description

Join us at Envirohub to learn how to make an upcycled paper star lantern using one of the many paper shopping bags you have stashed at home! We will provide all materials needed, but ask that you bring a paper shopping bag if you have one (a rip or two is fine).

We will share light refreshments and a info on the meaning of Matariki before launching into the construction of your lantern!

If you like, you can then bring your lantern along to walk the Matariki Light Trail at Ngāpeke Permaculture (Welcome Bay) a few weeks later (more info on this event to come).

BONUS: You can also choose to make a small upcycled glass lantern to contribute to the Ngāpeke Light trail. Just bring along a glass jar with the label removed, and we will make them together at the end of the paper lantern workshop.

Date: Saturday 7th June

Time: 10am until approx. 12pm

Location: Envirohub, 31b Glasgow Street, Tauranga South.

Cost: $10

Conditions:

Children are welcome to come as long as they are accompanied by a guardian who can assist with each lantern.

Please buy a ticket for each person who wishes to make a paper lantern.

This workshop requires some fiddly paper folding and gluing, so will require strong motor skills and some patience. Please bring someone to assist you if this may be challenging.

We will be photographing the event for social media, so please advise us at the start of the workshop if you do not want to be in photos.
