UPPER STONY CREEK RESERVOIR WALK
SAT 24 FEB 10.00-1.00PM
Join us for a guided walk to discover the story of the Upper Stony Creek Reservoir.
Opening in 1873, Upper Stony Creek was the first major water reservoir to be built in the Geelong region. Participants will have rare access to the imposing water tower and original caretakers cottage, plus a walk along the embankment, which at the time of construction was one of the highest in the world.Â
The reservoir is a 45-minute drive from Geelong. We willl be departing from Platform Arts via bus at 10.00am sharp, and will return by approximately 1.00pm.Â
This guided walk will be around 1.5 kilometres over unmade paths with some inclines, so a reasonable level of fitness is needed. The walking trail at Upper Stony Creek Reservoir is not suitable for prams or wheelchairs.
The walking tour itself takes approximately 1 hour, and there will also be time for a quick snack break (BYO). Public toilets are available at the reservoir and Platform Arts.
