Come on a fascinating ramble through the stratified world of colonial Richmond and meet the servants who did all the real work in Richmond's homes and hotels. Who were they, where did they come from and what was life like for the servants of Richmond?
To find out, we will explore the places where they spent their lives, both while at work and when they had the bad fortune to fall foul of the convict discipline system. Thanks to the amazing range of surviving records, we know far more about these folk than you might expect
Start/End point: Richmond Town Hall
Walking difficulty: Easy flat surface, but bear in mind it is a two hour walk
Shoes: Please wear sturdy walking shoes and wear appropriate outdoor, weather attire.
