Upwey Project - First Weeding 14th December 2025

We're super excited to get our hands dirty with some hand weeding at this new forest site! The hillside site on the corner of Tory Hill Rd and Thompson Rd in Upwey has become overrun with weeds and lacks some mid storey native plants.

Yarra Ranges Council and Operation Regeneration have already put some hard working goats into a fenced zone at the top of the site which we can enjoy, give some pats to and maybe a few weeds to eat if they're lucky.

We want to improve the quality of native vegetation cover and diversity across the site as well as improving bird and other animal diversity in the area. 10am-12pm we'll work from the lower part of the hill moving uphill.

Bring:

Gloves if you have them

any small weeding tools if you have them

A hat, sunglasses or safety glasses, raincoat and long pants/sleeves.

A snack to have beforehand or after.

We will supply some snacky food but there are plenty of options for lunch 5 minutes walk away at Upwey shops afterwards.
