    Event description

To mark International Day of People with Disability, UQ DIAN will hold a session to celebrate the theme "Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future". To interpret this theme, we will be turning the leadership aspect back on the individual- YOU.

Come and share your views on disability inclusion, and hear about leadership opportunities within the UQ disability community for 2025.

    10am-11am:

Welcome from Brooke Szucs, UQ DIAN.

Lou Johansen, Associate Director, Workplace Diversity and Inclusion.

Fishbowl*: The wishlist - what do you want for disability at UQ in 2025?

    11am-12pm:

Co-creation with disabled students as partners, why do it?

Get Involved: learn about being a part of the disability reference groups, UQ DIAN, campaigns, and more.

    12pm-1pm (add-on):

Free Pizza Caffe social lunch. Supported by Workplace Diversity and Inclusion.

Please book a specific ticket if attending the lunch.

    *What is a Fishbowl?
The Fishbowl events look like an ordinary panel from the surface, but there is something else! The panel starts with three or four people at the front of the room, who answer the questions from the host. However, when they have spoken, people from the audience are then asked to jump in and give their own voice! This event is perfect for those of you who have been at speeches and wanted to share your opinion, experience, or advice! Everyone is asked to participate, but coming to listen is just as important - do whatever you are comfortable with!

We will be asking about what you would like to see UQ do for disability inclusion in the upcoming year? Share your opinion with a dedicated community and see what connections you can make to move your ideas forward!
