Urban Farm Play Day- School Holidays Tour and Workshop (ages 8-12)
Event description
Come and explore our vibrant urban farm and enjoy some nature craft activities these school holidays. This session is suited to children aged 8 - 12.
Perth City Farm is a 26 year old Urban Farm that provides space and opportunities to build community connections, and educates and enables people to live sustainably. Founded 26 years ago on the site of a former battery recycling facility, this once toxic site has been lovingly rehabilitated over many years to become a Western Australian icon for environmental sustainability and community engagement.
We love to show children around the farm and will cover themes including:
- Food production- veggie growing, fruit trees, medicinal herbs
- Waste management- compost, worm farms, recycling centre
- Animals- chickens, ducks and bees and their care
- Outdoor art- street art, mosaics, sculpture
- History of the farm as a volunteer lead community project
- Hands-on craft/ gardening activities
A parent or Caregiver must accompany their child/children to the session, and stay onsite for the duration- we recommend hunkering down in our cafe. Please dress for the weather.
All parking around City Farm is paid on weekdays and it can be hard to
find a vacant spot. But we're right next to Claisebrook train station
and on the free Yellow CAT bus route so catching public transport can be
part of the day's adventure :)
