Urban Water Safety for Kids

Australia and Victoria have a rich history of coastal swimming, every summer beaches are filled with children partaking in a Nippers program - to learn all about beach safety and beach swimming and new opportunities in regional lakes and rivers.

Urban water safety for kids is a series of fun and educational activities for children to learn about safely enjoying rivers and other water environments. Facilitated by Life Saving Victoria, and supported by collaborators Yarra Pools, children of all ages will take away a new appreciation for the potential for urban river swimming in Melbourne, in the future, and enjoying waterways in a safe and respectful way.

This event forms part of an exciting future of the education needed to prepare Melbourne for swimming in urban waterways such as the Yarra, Birrarung River.

About Riverfest

This event is part of the 2024 Birrarung Riverfest. Celebrate our river at one of 30+ events being hosted over three weeks from 1- 22 September.
