Event description

Australia and Victoria has a rich history of coastal swimming, every summer beaches will be filled with children partaking in a nippers program - to learn all about beach safety and beach swimming and new opportunities in regional lakes and rivers.

City Swimming: Urban water safety for kids hosts a series of fun and educational activities for children to learn about safely enjoying rivers and other water environments.

This is part of our vision to one day soon we’ll be swimming in the Birrarung | Yarra River. Let’s do it safely and with our children.

Facilitated by Life Saving Victoria, and supported by collaborators Yarra Pools and Patagonia, children of all ages will take away a new appreciation for the potential for urban river swimming in Melbourne. There will be prizes and lots of fun while we learn about water safety in rivers.

Note: The sessions run for 45 minutes with three start times;10am, 11am and 12pmRegister one ticket per child. Children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian at all times.

This event is proudly hosted by Regen Melbourne, in collaboration with Life Saving Victoria and event partners: Patagonia and MPavilion.

Acknowledgement of Country

The Yarra Riverkeeper Association acknowledges that the lands and waterways of the Yarra, Birrarung catchment, are the unceded territories of the Wurundjeri Woi-Wurrung and Bunurong peoples. We pay respect to Traditional Owners, who have, and continue, to care for Country. We acknowledge that the river now called Yarra has always been known as the Birrarung by its custodians.
