Event description

ICAC is proud to present the 2025 musical of Urinetown

Urinetown is an intelligent and satirical musical comedy that uses the tropes of musical theatre to challenge late-stage capitalism and it’s consequential effects felt most keenly by the working class—of ecological destruction, overpopulation, and the loss of the most basic human rights.

In the not-so-distant future, a terrible water shortage following a 20-year drought has led to a government ban on private toilets. These are replaced by ‘pay-to-pee’ public toilets, owned and operated as a monopoly by the megalomaniac ‘Urine Good Company’. If the poor don’t obey the strict laws prohibiting free urination, they’ll be sent to the dreaded and mysterious 'Urinetown' to face the consequences of their disobedience. In revolution against the corporation’s unethical greed, a brave young hero emerges, leading the fight for the freedom to pee ‘wherever you like, whenever you like, for as long as you like, and with whomever you like’.

The show has the following content warnings: Staged violence, use of weapons, use of theatrical haze and strobe lighting, and mild adult language and themes.

The show will have a 20-minute interval.
