USU Day Trips Semester 2

Welcome to Sydney! Explore your new home with our fun sightseeing tours at USU Day Trips. The tours are the perfect chance for students to learn more about the city and make new friends along the way. 

This semester, we're running weekly Day Trips to various highlights, from a Cultural Cultural Cruise to a visit to Luna park

02 Aug | Cultural Cruise

🚢 Discover Sydney's Aboriginal Heritage on the Mari Nawi! Dive deep into the rich cultural history and stories of Sydney Harbour aboard the Mari Nawi (Big Canoe). Learn about the Gadigal, Guringai, Wangal, Gammeraigal, and Wallumedegal peoples who are the traditional custodians of the land surrounding one of the most beautiful harbours in the world.

16 Aug | Harbour Bridge Climbing Adventure

🌉 Embrace the thrill of the Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb! Experience breath taking panoramic views of Sydney from above in this exhilarating adventure.
Meet Up: Meet us at Harbour Bridge at  8:15 AM  ( Location details will be send through in the reminder email once register)

23 Aug | Cherry Blossom Festival at Auburn Botanic Gardens

🌸 Embrace the Beauty of Cherry Blossoms! Join us for a mesmerising day at the Auburn Botanic Gardens to celebrate the vibrant Cherry Blossom Festival. Experience the stunning bloom of cherry blossoms in a picturesque setting, filled with cultural performances, traditional tea ceremonies, and delightful garden walks.
Meet Up: The trip will begin on Hermann's Lawns at 9:00 AM . You will board a tour bus which will take you to the venues. Please note that there will not be a tour bus returning to the university, meaning you will need to arrange your own transportation back. However, our USU staff will guide you on public transportation options to return to the university.

30 Aug | North Building Art Gallery Tour

🎨Discover the architectural marvels of Sydney’s newest art space! Join us for an exclusive tour of the North Building at the Art Gallery of NSW. As part of a small tour group, you'll discover the architectural secrets of this SANAA-designed marvel and explore unique artworks crafted exclusively for this expanded campus.

06 Sep | Hoyts Movie Night - Deadpool & Wolverine

🍿 Heroes Unite on the Big Screen! Unwind with an action-packed evening featuring Deadpool and Wolverine. Prepare for laughs, thrills, and a dash of mayhem. Grab your popcorn and enjoy a night under the spell of Hollywood’s finest!
Meet Up:  Meet us in front of Hoyts Broadway Cinema at 18:00 PM.

What is USU Day Trips?
USU Day Trips is an event series for USYD international and domestic students to make new friends and explore all the best parts of Sydney. In semester 2, we're running weekly Day Trips to various highlights, from an Culture Cruise to a movie night at Hoyts, and so much more!

Who can join Day Trips?
Day Trips are open to all USU Members. If you aren’t a member yet, make sure you sign up today so you can come along and enjoy all the fun. The best part is, it's free for all USYD students! Sign up for USU membership here.

What are the Covid-19 safety requirements?
Day Trips attendees are required to follow all of the University's Covid Safety Precautions, any Covid Safety requirements issued by NSW Health. This may include but are not limited to wearing masks on public transport and checking in via the Health QR.

What if I don’t receive my confirmation email?
Please email us if you don't receive confirmation of your registration.

What happens if it's bad weather?
Most of the USU's Day Trips will go on regardless of the weather, so make sure you pack appropriately! Make sure you have water and a hat if it's sunny, and an umbrella if it's raining. If the weather is too severe for the Day Trip to go on as scheduled, you will be notified via email and offered a refund or a change of date option.

Tickets are sold out. What do I do now?
Please click join the waitlist on Humanitix. Note that the waitlist is limited as well. But don't worry if you miss out on this Day Trip, the next one is just around the corner!

Can I join on the day if someone doesn’t show up?
Since our day trip events are typically very popular and have a high attendance rate, it's unlikely that spots will open up on the day of the event. However, if you're still interested in joining, you can sign up on the waiting list. An hour before the event starts, you'll find a QR code printed on the outside wall of our Student Programs office. Please scan it and fill out the form. You will be contacted by USU once a spot becomes available. Additionally, if the location requires meeting off campus, we will update the QR code in the event information on Humanitix. Please check the event information on the day of the event start.

Release of Liability, Waiver of Claims and Assumption of Risk:
By participating in this event, I agree to the terms and conditions:
1. Participants are responsible for their own behaviour and any resulting consequences. The University of Sydney Union shall not be liable for any loss, damage, or theft of personal belongings or any injury to the individual or others resulting from the event. Furthermore you agree to abide by the terms and conditions of this event.
2. All attendees must adhere to all COVID-19 safety requirements, including but not limited, to wearing a mask on ALL public transport.
3. I consent to being contacted by the USU via email about upcoming events and activities. I can opt out of these communications at any time.
4. I consent to being photographed by USU during the event for future promotion content on USU socials and communication channels.
