Come and join us to discover some of Australia’s iconic destinations, meet new friends, enjoy snacks, and ask anything you’d like. This is a great chance to have fun, make connections, and learn a little more about this amazing country along the way!

G'DAY MATE: AUSSIE SLANG! 🩴 Tues, 18th Mar | Manning Bar 1:30-3pm

Ever been stumped by an Aussie dropping a “yeah nah,” “nah yeah,” or even a “yeah nah yeah”? No worries! This session will help you decode these classic expressions and learn how to use them in everyday conversation. We’ll keep it fun, relaxed, and easy to follow, so you can dive right into Aussie slang without feeling overwhelmed. Come along, make some mates, and get ready to chat like a local!

AUSSIE FOOD & DRINKS! 🍺 Tues, 01st April | Manning Bar 1:30-3pm

Get ready to try cultural Australian foods in a classic afternoon tea! We'll have a chat and look into the history & stories that are behind some of these iconic treats!

Discover how Australians celebrate birthdays, learn about our unique traditions including cheers & other festive customs!

An introduction to Australia! We will talk about geography, key information about the country, and you will get the chance to get to know some of your new friends!

What are USU G'Day Gatherings?
Led by our friendly group facilitator, G'Day Gatherings (formerly Australian Discussion Groups) are social sessions where you can meet international students, practise English and learn more about Australian culture.
G'Day Gatherings run fortnightly throughout the semester, with each session on a different topic including Aussie Slang and Aussie Food & Drinks. Free Snacks included!

Who can join G'Day Gatherings?
These sessions are open to all USU Members. If you aren’t a member yet, make sure you sign up today so you can come along and enjoy all the fun. The best part is, it's free for all USYD students! Sign up for USU membership here.

What are the Covid-19 safety requirements?
Attendees are required to follow all of the University's Covid Safety Precautions and any Covid Safety requirements issued by the NSW Health.

What if I don’t receive my confirmation email?

Tickets are sold out. What do I do now?
Please email us if you'd like to join the waitlist, and we'll contact you as soon as a spot opens. But don't worry if you miss out on this Australian Discussion Group, the next one is just around the corner!
