    Make new friends and practise English at USU G'day Gatherings!

    Come along to our fortnightly G'day Gatherings sessions, hosted at Manning Bar! Here you will learn all sorts of things about Australia & Sydney including local Aussie slang, Aussie food & drinks, sports and activities, fun Aussie customs and traditions, Indigenous culture, & more! 👋

    G'day Gatherings is a great place for you to meet other international students, learn about the most iconic spots around the Campus & Sydney, plus enjoy FREE food from Manning Cantina!

    WELCOME TO SYDNEY! 🦘 Tues, 6th Aug | Manning Bar 1:30-3pm

    An introduction to Australia! We will talk about geography, key information about the country, and you will get the chance to get to know some of your new friends! 

    G'DAY MATE: AUSSIE SLANG! 🩴 Tues, 20th Aug | Manning Bar 1:30-3pm

    Have you ever not been sure what it means to "have a bevvie in the arvo?" Look no further than this session where we talk and chat all things slam, idioms, and Aussie expressions. 

    AUSSIE FOOD & DRINKS! 🍺 Tues, 3rd Sept | Manning Bar 1:30-3pm

    Get ready to try cultural Australian foods in a classic afternoon tea! We'll have a chat and look into the history & stories that are behind some of these iconic treats! 

    AUSSIE BIRTHDAY TRADITIONS! 🎂 Tues, 17th Sept | Manning Bar 1:30-3pm

    Discover how Australians celebrate birthdays, learn about our unique traditions including cheers & other festive customs!

    What are USU G'Day Gatherings? 
    Led by our friendly group facilitator, G'Day Gatherings (formerly Australian Discussion Groups) are social sessions where you can meet international students, practise English and learn more about Australian culture. 
    G'Day Gatherings run fortnightly throughout the semester, with each session on a different topic including Aussie Slang and Aussie Food & Drinks. Free Snacks included!

    Who can join G'Day Gatherings?
    These sessions are open to all USU Members. If you aren’t a member yet, make sure you sign up today so you can come along and enjoy all the fun. The best part is, it's free for all USYD students! Sign up for USU membership here.

    What are the Covid-19 safety requirements? 
    Attendees are required to follow all of the University's Covid Safety Precautions and any Covid Safety requirements issued by the NSW Health.

    What if I don’t receive my confirmation email? 
    Please email us if you don't receive confirmation of your registration. 

    Tickets are sold out. What do I do now?
    Please email us if you'd like to join the waitlist, and we'll contact you as soon as a spot opens. But don't worry if you miss out on this Australian Discussion Group, the next one is just around the corner!
