UTS Ageing Research Collaborative (UARC) Research Seminar Series - 26 August 2026

UARC’s Co-Directors, Professor David Brown and Professor Deb Parker, will open the seminar & introduce our speaker. 

Our speaker this month is Dr Kristina Chelburg. Kristina is in UARC's Theme on Law, Regulation and Ethics

Kristina’s talk is on: Participatory research with people with dementia in residential care homes.

Kristina's research project had its first publication this month, which she will be drawing on in her seminar:

About the Speaker 

Dr Kristina Chelberg

Dr Kristina Chelberg is an early career researcher with an emerging profile in socio-legal dementia research. Dr Chelberg is with the UTS Faculty of Law as a 2025 Dementia Australia Research Foundation (DARF) Post-doctoral Fellow. Dr Chelberg's PhD thesis by publication used inter-disciplinary qualitative approaches to examine how framings of dementia contribute to marginalisation of people living with dementia in legal responses to dementia aged care. Dr Chelberg is also the Communications Lead for the Australian Association of Gerontology (AAG). The AAG newsletter for March/April 2026 has a short feature on Kristina where you can learn a bit more about her, including her DARF Fellowship project.

This event forms part of UARC’s Research Seminar Series at RES Hub, offered in-person only to facilitate collaboration and connection. This series provides a space for researchers to share their work, connect and collaborate with other UTS researchers who share a passion for ageing and aged care. UARC is led by UTS academics from multiple faculties working in collaboration with researchers from other universities, aged-care providers, health services, government agencies and consumer groups with the aim of identifying evidence-based solutions to the issues facing ageing and aged care that is sustainable in terms of its fiscal, financial, workforce and social dimensions.
