What is a Game Jam and how will the event be run?

A Game Jam is a fast-paced event where you’ll create a game from scratch as part of a team. Each game jam is different, focusing on either digital games made with game engines like Unity or physical games like board games. The twist? Every Game Jam has a theme that you must follow which is only revealed on the day of the event!

Event Details:

Date: Monday 23 November - Tuesday 24 November 2026

Time: 09:45am - 5:00pm

Location: UTS Building 11, Level 4, Room 400

Your game will be judged based on:

  • Enjoyment: How fun is the game to play?

  • Creativity: How uniquely have you implemented the theme?

  • Presentation: How polished and visually appealing is the game?

At the end of Day 2, the games will be played and presented live at the end of the jam, with the winning teams announced later in the week via the discord server.

Rules:

- No generative AI is allowed for any aspects of the jam.

- You can use any game engine, however the game must be playable as a WebGL build on Itch.io.

- You are allowed to kit bash with third party assets, as long as they are listed in the credits.

Game Jam Theme:

On the aformentioned discord server, three themes will be provided 1 week before the jam to allow groups to begin early ideation so that they can hit the ground running once the jam begins!

On the first day of the jam, one of these themes will be randomly selected, and then off you go!
