Business School Workshop

Writing a Research Proposal: presented by Dr Amanda White, Deputy Associate Dean Education (Learner Experience) at the UTS Business School

Want to stretch your problem solving, critical thinking and data analysis skills to the max? A research degree (Masters or PhD) is a great way to stretch your academic skills and help solve real world problems. During the workshop, you'll gain a deep understanding of what the UTS admissions committees look for in a research proposal. From formulating a clear research question to outlining a solid methodology and demonstrating the significance of your study, we'll cover it all. You'll also learn how to effectively structure your proposal, utilise credible sources, and communicate your ideas with precision and clarity.

Faculty of Design, Architecture and Building Workshop

Mapping Cities Within the City: presented by Alexandra Crosby, Associate Professor at the School of Design

In this workshop, Associate Professor Alexandra Crosby will discuss how maps can make some aspects of the city visible and others invisible. She will bring some creative maps of Sydney and you will work together on designing a map of your own city.

Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Workshop (For Parents and Teachers only)

AI and the Creative Professional: presented by Dr Susie Khamis, Associate Dean of International and Head of Strategic Communication in the School of Communication

Over the last few years, the education sector has been rocked and shocked by the extraordinary growth in AI and the ease with which students can now “outsource” tasks once deemed integral to active learning. This has presented a range of challenges for educators – practical, ethical, and philosophical. In this presentation, we take stock of how we can develop students’ capacity to use AI in ways that are mindful and effective, but which don’t compromise their integrity or honesty. Moreover, we consider how students aiming for careers in the Creative Industries must be especially careful, since quality storytelling, and exciting art, almost invariably result from the ‘old fashion’ hallmarks of hard work and authentic learning.
