This free registration forum has been growing every year over the last four years, and in 2023, the fifth year, this will be the biggest yet.

We welcome all First Nations Educators, Professors, teachers, and people connected to learning and teaching environments.

Utyerre Apanpe Network (First Nations Educators') Forums provide nourishment in the knowledge systems we own and share through our kinship and cultural responsibilities.

Utyerre Apanpe is a vehicle for change in establishing a national First Nations Educational System. Utyerre Apanpe is a network of people and a forum to speak about reforming the education system, setting standards, and supporting a formal workforce and network of First Nations educators across Australia. This forum is to provide a voice to politicians, western educators and Australian school systems.

The three priorities of the forum are: 

Cultural empowerment, support, sharing and practice – to come together and support our First cultural educators in their cultural professional practice through connecting with each other, having time to restore our spirits.

Creating a First Nations led education system run by our people that is fully recognised and supported by the Australian government as a legitimate system of education.

A national body that holds our cultural standards and provides the resources and support to First Nations communities across the country to establish their learning systems aligning with their country, leadership, and governance from their communities.

The Utyerre Apanpe Forum provides the space to share First Nations pedagogy, curriculum, standards, and practices in our learning environments underpinned by culture, language, and country. Coming together through Utyerre Apanpe gives experienced educators from many nations to join their voices, vision, and support for each other to achieve the change we have been seeking for over 50 years.

The 2023 gathering is an opportunity to reconnect as professional educators and confirm the roadmap and framework for a National Reform, the MK Turner Review.

This year's Forum will return to Ross River over four days.

This is an on-country camping event; swags can be provided. Limited covered accommodation is available, and amenities are accessible to everyone. All accommodations, resources, meals and beverages will be provided for free during the event.

Ross River is an hour's drive from Alice Springs, which needs to be considered if you have medical requirements. Transport to and from Mparntwe to Ross River is available.
