UWA Wear It Purple Research Showcase

Celebrate Wear It Purple Day at our 2026 LGBTIQA+ Research Showcase! Hosted by the UWA LGBTIQA+ Advisory Group and the Pro Vice-Chancellor Academic Advancement & Diversity, we'll bring together researchers from across UWA.

Time: 12-2pm AWST

Venue: Indian Ocean Marine Research Centre Auditorium

Welcome by Ms Selina Torrance, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Operations and Executive Sponsor of the LGBTIQA+ Advisory Group.

Speakers:

• Dr Ness Vaughan, a Senior Lecturer at the UWA Medical School, will discuss fostering community connection for LGBTQIA+ inclusive medical education

• Aidan Ricciardo, a Senior Lecturer at the UWA Law School, will share recent research in the law relating to bodily autonomy for LGBTIQA+ people, including in relation to gender-affirming medical treatment.

• Aryaman Bhoosreddy, a PhD candidate in public health, will share research on the mental health of LGBTQ+ university students whose families are hostile to their sexual and/or gender identity.

   

The showcase will be followed by a light lunch.

Open to UWA staff, students and the public. Free of charge.
