    Event description

    The Victorian Association for Philosophy in Schools is proud to host our 2023 conference, focussed on the theme of:
    Educating for Capabilities: Critical & Creative Thinking, Ethical, Intercultural, Personal, & Social. 

    Over two days, local, national, and international experts in Philosophy in Schools and beyond will showcase their work, enabling teachers to gain practical and ready-to-use strategies to implement in their classroom immediately. The event will be held in the Arts West building at the University of Melbourne, Parkville.

    We are proud to Megan Laverty as our keynote speaker. Megan is recognised internationally for her varied and esteemed work promoting philosophical inquiry for students within academic, political, and educational environments.

    Megan Laverty is Associate Professor of Philosophy and Education at Teachers College, Columbia University. Her primary research interests are philosophy of education, moral philosophy, and philosophy with children and adolescents.


    Tickets for this event can be purchased in the following categories

    1. Days: One Day or Two Days - Select which days you want to attend and choose accordingly
    2. Personal: VAPS Member; Non-Member; Concession; Student - Select your personal circumstances, VAPS memberships are available at

    If your school or university is paying for your ticket and is unable to pay online, please email the treasurer with your ticketing information and institution's details and we will provide an invoice. 

    eg:

    I would like a ticket for a VAPS member Two Days. Please send an invoice for $210 to Example Primary School, at accounts@example.edu.au

    VAPS is able to provide subsidies on a case-by-case basis. We encourage regional/rural teachers, interstate/international students, are those with limited financial means to contact us about subsidised access to the conference.
