The Great Avon/Waihopai Varmint Hunt

The Avon Waihopai Residents Association is hosting a community pest cull and fundraiser to upgrade our local hall into a welcoming space for everyone.

Hunting open from 8th May with weigh-in at 1pm, 10th May at 1602 Waihopai Valley Rd, Blenheim. This is a family-friendly, team-based event encouraging everyone to get hands-on in pest control.

$25 for a team of up to four.

Invasive pests targeted include feral cats, rabbits, hares, possums, rats, stoats, ferrets, and weasels. Prizes will be awarded for:

• Heaviest animal in each category

• Team with the most pests caught

• Team with the best mixed bag

• Special prizes for stoats and weasels

• Plus spot prizes along the way

• A chance to have your ferret taxidermied for display at the Kārearea Falcon Trust.

This is a great chance to contribute to the environment, have fun with your family, and engage with your local community. There will be a BBQ for food and the Coffee Shack for drinks.

Whole, poison-free rabbits, hares, and possum tails will be donated to the Kārearea Falcon Trust.
