Visual Storytelling in Art and Auslan at the Potter
Description
The Victorian College of the Deaf (VCD) warmly invites you to join us at the Potter Museum of Art to celebrate a student exhibition for Visual Storytelling in Art and Auslan, a Creative Learning Partnership supported by Creative Victoria. The event will take place from 12pm - 2pm with exact timings outlined below under schedule.
This exhibition is an opportunity to celebrate the hard work and achievements of participating students and their visual storytelling portfolios. The exhibition will include a showcase featuring artworks created throughout the project, including drawings, collages, paintings and digital media, and sculptures, all exploring intersecting themes of nature, knowledge, technology and identity.

Preview and Refreshments
We invite special guests from Creative Victoria, VCD and University of Melbourne to join the student exhibitors for a preview and refreshments prior to formal proceedings.
- 12:45 pm
Formal Proceedings
The student exhibitors present a formal opening address to their school community, families, teachers and special guests.
- 1:00 pm
Student exhibition viewing
All guests are invited to view the exhibition and accompanying student video interviews.
- 2:00 pm
Post event
Attendees are encouraged to stay on after the formalities and view the Potter's current exhibition, Ngarn Wan'gal: Art of the gum tree, which provided inspiration for many of the students' artworks.

FAQs
- Will there be interpreters available?
Yes, we will have a number of interpreters working throughout this event. Members of our team and interpreters will be located at the front entrance on arrival.
- How do I get to the Potter?
Train: The nearest train station is Parkville, exit to Grattan Street East.
Tram: The nearest tram stop is Stop 1 Melbourne University on routes 1, 3, 3a, 5, 6, 16, 64, 67 & 72.
Bus: Bus routes 241, 402, 505 and 546 stop nearby on Grattan Street.
Car: The Potter does not have designated parking. Public parking is available at Ace Parking on Faraday Street, or you can find metered street parking on Elgin Street and Faraday Street.
Cycling: Bike parking is available outside our entrance on Masson Road and at a secure bicycle hub on Monash Road.
- How do I get to the exhibition once I arrive?
As soon as you enter the Potter, a member of our team will direct you towards the lifts on the ground level. Take the lift up to the Primrose Potter Studio and Peter Jopling Studio.
