Description

The Casey Tech School invites VCE students of Media to join a FREE full‑day, hands‑on introduction to Adobe Premiere Pro—designed to build confidence, spark creativity, and equip you with practical skills you can take straight back to the classroom. Whether you’re completely new to video editing or looking to strengthen your digital media toolkit, this workshop offers an accessible and supportive pathway into learning industry‑standard software.
 

Across the day, you’ll explore the essentials of video editing: trimming and arranging clips, layering video and audio, applying transitions and effects, and using keyframing to bring simple motion and speed changes to life. Our facilitators will guide you step‑by‑step through each activity, including the creation of a fun special‑effects “clone” video, giving you the chance to capture video, practise, and build capability with modern equipment.
 

Handouts and digital resources will be provided post session so you can use for future reference.

On arrival, check in with our team, enjoy a cuppa, and take a short tour of our facilities before we dive in. Please bring morning tea and lunch or it can be purchased at the Chisholm Cafe. We look forward to welcoming you for a day of learning, creativity, and collaboration

Introduction: Registration, Welcome and tour of Tech School 

9:00 to 10:45am
Room: DigiLab 

Session 1: Introduction & Foundations  

  • Film and video basics; frame rates; resolutions; file types;  

  • Premiere Pro interface; importing assets; editing fundamentals (layers, cuts, joins, moving clips); adding transitions 

10:45 to 11:00am 

Morning tea (15min) 

11.00am to 1.00pm 

Room: DigiLab and other spaces.  

Session 2: Capture & Create 

  • Guided “clone” video activity;  

  • Participants then capture their own clip sequences;  

  • Assemble, edit and export using Adobe Premiere Pro 

1.00pm to 1.30pm 

Lunch (30 min) 

1.30pm to 2.45pm 

Room: DigiLab 

Session 3: Keyframing & Motion 

  • Introduction to keyframes; guided activity creating speed ramps, 

2.45pm to 3.00pm 

Room: Forum. 

Brief Q&A, farewell 


Catering: BYO Lunch, or purchase from the Chisholm Institute Cafe
