Establishing native vegetation on your farm can deliver real benefits in just a few short years. Join us for a guided tour of Arthur Parker’s property in Oxley to see firsthand what works and practical ideas for your own property.
Explore six-year-old native plantings along laneways, in shelterbelts of varying widths and around a farm dam.
This tour will cover:
Species selection and placement for easier management, improved wind protection, and effective shade
Site preparation and infill planting to maximise survival and achieve consistent shelterbelt density
Plant spacing, and why overplanting trees can create problems down the track
An open Q&A on what worked, what didn’t, and what we’d do differently next time

Farm walk (3:00-4:00pm), followed by a facilitated discussion at the King River Café (4:00-5:00pm), including afternoon tea

Sturdy closed-toe shoes, water bottle, and a hat or raincoat (weather dependent)
Please note: This is a working farm. Ground may be uneven and conditions may be wet.
