    Event description

Event Description: Photography Exhibition "Point Assist" - Launch at RSL Currumbin

This powerful collection of career service imagery and accompanying stories from Australian veterans offers a unique insight into the experiences of serving personnel.

Originally launched in Tasmania in 2020, Point & Shoot took to the national stage in 2022 and continues to grow. The exhibition covers military service from post-World War II to the present day, commemorating modern conflicts, peace operations, and service. It provides a rare glimpse into the lives of Australians who have served their country.

Point & Shoot founder, Mark Direen, is a former Infantry and Special Forces soldier with over 20 years of military service, including six overseas deployments. His experiences in high-threat environments inspired him to capture moments through photography, leading to the creation of this exhibition. Mark then invited veterans from around Australia to contribute their own photographs.

The purpose of Point & Shoot is to share moments, captured by veterans themselves, that they felt were worth remembering. It is not about professional photography but about the stories behind each image. The exhibition is open to anyone from the public and will be running for two days.
