Veteran Artist Meet-ups - Melbourne
Description
October Melbourne Meet-up: Creative Covers with Steve Davison
We'll explore the process of ideating and finding inspiration, elements to reference, and different ways of achieving an arrangement, or orchestration of the cover. Steve will share elements of his work and process along the way, as well as some other examples. He'll also invite discussion on how inspiration/borrowing/ideation shows up in the participants' practices.
Veteran Artist Meet-Ups are relaxed, welcoming gatherings designed to bring people together in a supportive, creative environment. Hosted by ANVAM, they prioritise connection, conversation and community over formal outcomes.
For ANVAM, a veteran is defined as a current or former-serving Australian Defence Force member, as well as the family of current or former-serving members. You do not need to identify as a “Veteran Artist” to attend. These meet-ups are open to anyone from the Veteran Community who is creative, curious about art, or interested in connecting through shared experience.
Each meet-up is informal by design, but no two sessions are exactly the same. Some gatherings will centre around shared food and conversation, while others may include a light program such as an artist talk, creative activity, or guided tour. There is no expectation to present work or participate beyond what feels comfortable.
Whether actively practicing, returning to creativity, or simply exploring new interests, attendees are invited to come as they are and be part of a growing, veteran-led creative community.
