    Main Act performer: Maggie Somerville

    Maggie Somerville is a local singer-songwriter who has written songs, tunes and poems most of her life. She has played in bands, duos and solo, written music for amateur theatre, given workshops and won awards for some of her songs and tunes. Her material is often based on her own and others’ experiences, with a focus on Australian people and events. She released her first solo album, ‘Roller-Coaster’, in 2013, then a joint album with Stephen Whiteside of C.J. Dennis poems she set to music. She followed this with another album of original songs and tunes, ‘Baloney’, and then an album of poems by Dame Mary Gilmore which she set to music entitled ‘The Forest Prayed’. Maggie has now recently produced two more albums – her musical interpretation of poetry by Australian poets John Shaw Neilson and Henry Lawson. She will launch both these albums at this concert: ‘The Walking of the Moon-Woman’ (Neilson) and ‘Cinderella’ (Lawson).

    The format of the night will be:

    • 7.45 – 8.45 pm Spot acts.
    • 8.45 – 9.00 pm Supper
    • 9.00 – 10.00 pm Main Act, Maggie Somerville
