VHI Research Reimagined Summit - Advancing Personalised Cardiovascular Health
Description
The Monash Victorian Heart Institute invites you to Research Reimagined Summit 2026: Advancing Personalised Cardiovascular Health.
This one-day summit will bring together researchers, clinicians, consumers, health service leaders, industry partners and policy thinkers to explore what personalised medicine can and should deliver - and for whom.
Through keynote presentations, expert deep dives, interactive breakout conversations, an EMCR showcase and a closing audience-led panel, the program will examine the opportunities and challenges shaping the next era of cardiovascular research and care.
The day will explore themes including genomics, AI, precision medicine, health economics, discovery science, implementation, consumer partnership, equity and community trust.
This event is free to attend, but registration is essential.

Keynote speaker

Grant McArthur AO
Professor Grant McArthur AO is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and holds a Ph.D. in Medical Biology. He the inaugural Lorenzo Galli Chair of Melanoma and Skin Cancers at the University of Melbourne. He is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Clinical Oncology. Professor McArthur is also Head of the Molecular Oncology Laboratory and a Senior Consultant Medical Oncologist at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. He has published over 350 papers and has served as a national and international chair for multiple clinical trials on targeted therapies and immunotherapies. His research interests include melanoma, clinical trials of targeted therapeutics, the discovery of novel drug targets in cancer, oncogene targeting, the immunological effects of targeted therapies, personalized medicine, and cancer metabolism. Presentation: Personalised Medicine in Practice: Lessons from Oncology for the Cardiovascular Field Synopsis: Personalised approaches to oncology have transformed the field following technological advances in genomic profiling of patient’s germline and their cancers. Personalised molecular imaging approaches with “theranostics” are also now in routine care. Molecularly defined subsets of many common cancers have actionable genomic changes and Australia now has a universal genomics based personalised medicine program for all children with cancer. However despite these advances it remains unclear how extensive the use of genomics based medicine should be in oncology based on both cost-effectiveness and clinical benefit. Furthermore use of personalised approaches in immunotherapy, prevention and early detection remains limited. Nonetheless molecular based approaches to prevention, early detection and treatment of disease across medicine, including cardiovascular disease and cancer, will clearly be a foundation in the future of healthcare.
