Event description

The Victorian branch of the Australian and New Zealand Industrial and Applied Mathematics Society (VicANZIAM) is delighted to announce a one-day meeting of the Australian and New Zealand Industrial and Applied Mathematics Society.

In this event, we will bring together applied and industrial mathematicians from a broad range of backgrounds and at various career stages. We will host four plenary speakers from industry and academia. The workshop will also include a poster session open to students to present work in progress. There will be a $300 prize for the best student poster and the winner will be invited to give a plenary presentation at next year's event!

Plenary speakers

We are honoured to host the following plenary speakers:

Anja Slim (Monash University)

Nicholas Read (FloodMapp)

Gerry Ryan (Kids Institute)

Tamara Tambyah (2024 Student Prize Winner)

Poster session

A poster session for students will be a focus of the event. This was a particular highlight of previous workshops. The session will begin with a “lightning round”. Each poster presenter will give a 2-3 minute advertisement accompanied by one slide. This will be followed by the poster session proper.

A title and abstract will need to be submitted by 19th May 2025. There will be a $300 prize for the best student presenter.

Registration

Registration is now open with a deadline of 19th May 2025.
