VIC/NATIONAL: Join the Fight for Registration of the Interior Design Profession

Join us in person or online meeting in the fight for the registration of the interior design profession.

The DIA Victorian Interior Design Working Group is hosting this meeting following successful ‘Join the Fight’ meetings in NSW and QLD. Learn about the advocacy being proposed for 2024 and have your say in the national registration regime being proposed.

Now it’s time for Interior Designers Australia wide to participate in their future!

Join us in Melbourne or via Zoom for a panel discussion hosted by Mim Fanning, to build consensus on the issues facing our profession and consider next steps for action in this advocacy campaign. Commencing at 5:30pm for a 6:00pm sharp start. 

What we need you to do

1. Register to attend this meeting to get informed and share your stories. Registration is open to both members and non-members. All are welcome. And its FREE.
2. If you aren't already, we ask you to become a member of the DIA. The stronger our membership base, the louder our voice when advocating to support your profession.
3. We kindly request your assistance in completing this survey  which will enable us to compile essential evidence required to present a comprehensive case. You input is invaluable in strengthening our cause.

Why is this important?

Registration is an appropriate recognition of qualified interior designers' skills and expertise. If registration doesn’t happen, it is our prediction that the interior design profession will disappear within ongoing changes to the definition of construction professionals. For the sake of our profession, we believe interior designers should be recognised and registered (in some cases licensed) as a separate class of design practitioners.

What is the purpose of this meeting?

1. To build consensus among interior designers on the issues and process to date, what needs to happen next and how you can help us take action.
2. To collect information about the current compliance regimes for interior designers in each state and the limits for PI insurance.

The  DIA continues to advocate for the recognition and regulation of interior design, ensuring the profession's growth and the protection of both practitioners and consumers.

As part of the DIA’s Accredited Designer program, we offer Continuing Professional Development (CPD) through our learning resources. CPD is most effective if undertaken continuously to ensure a currency of skills and knowledge. Attendance at this event is worth 2CPD points.
