The Grapes of the Southern Rhone (The Holy Trinity and Beyond)
Daisy's
wellington, new zealand
Event description
With over 20x more area under vine than it's Northern counterpart (which us largely famous for Syrah) the Southern Rhone produces approximately 380 million bottles of wine a year with a variety of grapes and styles but none are more famous than blends made from the "Holy Trinity" Grenache, Syrah and Mouvedre. In this tasting, we'll be tasting wines from France, California, South Africa, Australia and more focusing on Grenache (the 7th widest planted grape variety in the world) and blends but also exploring little-known varieties and styles including whites made with Grenache Blanc, Cinsault and Carignan.
