Description

What is your child's behaviour trying to tell you?

Behaviour is a means of communication, often in response to unmet needs, frustration, fear, anxiety, or discomfort. Supporting your child's behaviour can help families minimise triggers and teach children effective ways to communicate their needs.

Kiind’s upcoming Virtual MyTime session is designed to help parents and carers of children aged 0-18 years better understand and support their child and strengthen family relationships.

This session will be facilitated by Kiind and joined by guest speaker, Maggie from Developmental Disability WA (DDWA). This session aims to help parents and carers gain the knowledge and skills to support their child's behaviours. This includes helping attendees recognise triggers, dealing with issues in early childhood through to the teenage years, and more.

Date: Friday, 14 August 2026

Time: 10am - 11:30am

Location: Online via Zoom

Cost: Free

We look forward to welcoming you to this safe and supportive space.

  • Maggie

    Maggie

Maggie is a parent of a son with complex communication needs who, at times, displays behaviours that may be perceived as challenging. With a background in early childhood education, she has also audited the Complex Communication Needs course at Edith Cowan University, including the behaviour support unit. Maggie currently self-manages her son’s NDIS plan and contributes to the NDIA Self-Management Advisory Board. She brings over ten years of experience working in the disability sector, alongside a lifetime of personal connection with people with disability. Drawing on her perspective as both a sibling to a sister with disability and a parent, Maggie offers a rich and unique lived experience. In her role at Developmental Disability WA, she facilitates the Side by Side peer support group.
