Event description

So many of us look back and think, I wish I’d known then what I know now.

We’re often handed a deficit-based view of autism. We feel pressure to intervene, fix, or change. But over time, we learn to see our children more clearly, to understand their needs, honour their differences, and let go of outdated ideas.

In this session, we’ll reflect on the lessons that only come with time, the turning points and how a strengths-based lens can change everything, for our children and for us.

In this peer group we’ll explore
• What we believed in the beginning and what changed
• Moments that reshaped how we see our child
• How to celebrate your child’s strengths and unique way of thinking
• What we’d say to other parents just starting out

This group is facilitated by Kristy

Kristy is a proud mum to Dash, who is Autistic and has ADHD, just like his mum. She’s passionate about connecting with other families and celebrating neurodivergent joy and all the strengths that come with thinking differently.
