Event description

Taught by Pat O'Rourke LMT (License #MA 2029)

In person lecture presentation with hands-on component - 3 CE Credits

About the Presentation: Our viscera or organs often don’t get the attention they can use or deserve with much of the massage techniques commonly used. With gentle techniques we can help our viscera recalibrate and attain optimal health. Each organ has an internal rhythm we can feel and work with if we listen. I will use the examples of the liver, lungs and colon since they are some of the more clear organs to feel and also because they are some of the places the stress of life, the toxins in our environments and pathologies in the world impact our health. We will talk about anatomy and physiology of the organs, discuss the internal rhythm patterns of the organs in question and practice working with them in this three hour class.

What to bring: massage tables, bottom sheets

About the presenter: Pat O’Rourke has been an LMT since 1984 and taught at the Brian Utting School of Massage in Seattle for 20 years. Her focus is on structural work, injury assessment and treatment, craniosacral work, and resolving pain, trauma, and discomfort.

Pat trained and certified as a teacher with Ben Benjamin for injury assessment and treatment; studied muscle energy technique with Rich Phaigh for further understanding of neurological holding and spinal dysfunction; is certified in the biodynamic model of craniosacral work, which adds a component of treating the nervous system and trauma; and is certified in structural integration through Tom Myers's KMI program. Her many years of teaching cadaver anatomy helped to round out the technical specificity necessary to understand the physical puzzle of the body.
