Visible Mending Workshop

Event description

We've all been there; your perfect T-shirt or beloved cardigan gets caught on a doorknob or has a washing machine booboo and becomes unwearable.

Don't you wish you could wave a magic wand and save that garment from landfill?

In this hands-on workshop, you'll learn how to use a needle as a magic wand, and give your damaged clothes a new lease on life. We'll go over embroidery and darning methods directly on your damaged clothing, so you can go home and mend confidently.

Visible mending is a fabulous technique that is easy to learn and addictive to apply to all your worn out garments. It repairs, as well as improves clothes by applying visible stitches that make your clothes stand out.

Participants will need to bring in their own (clean) clothing to mend. We'll supply needles, embroidery thread, scissors, and scraps of fabric for patching.

Your instructor Sarah Pondevie has more than 25 years of experience in the fashion industry, from costume to ready-to-wear and bridal couture, printing, dyeing, quilting, CAD and tertiary level lecturing. She is the founder of the popular PDF sewing pattern company Pattern Union, as well as Workspace Fashion Art & Design Studio.
