    Event description

The Australian Synchrotron (ANSTO) is one of Australia's most significant pieces of scientific infrastructure. We have been offered the opportunity for a small group to tour the facility during the facility's maintenance period.

The day will start with a presentation by Synchrotron staff outlining the broad range of research the Synchrotron supports. This includes applications in medicine, agriculture, environment, defence, nanotechnology, energy, transport, advanced manufacturing, mineral exploration and cultural heritage. After a tea break and Q and A, they will take us on a tour for a close up view of the facility and its various x-ray and infrared beamlines.

NB Closed toe footwear is required and if you have a pacemaker you will be permitted to tour the technical floor but not the tunnels.

This is a joint RSV-Geography Victoria event and open to all interested people over the age of 18.
