VOCES8 | Perth - Primary Students Workshop

Event description

The 2023 Grammy-nominated British vocal ensemble VOCES8 is proud to inspire people through music and share the joy of singing. Touring globally, the group performs an extensive repertory both in its a cappella concerts and in collaborations with leading musicians, orchestras and conductors. Versatility and a celebration of diverse musical expression are central to the ensemble’s performance and education ethos which is shared both online and in person. VOCES8 is the flagship ensemble of the VOCES8 Foundation which actively promotes ‘Music Education For All’, reaching up to 40,000 people annually.

Presented by The Choral Collective and supported by Trinity College, VOCES8 will present workshops for primary school students (grades 4-6 inclusive) based on 'The VOCES8 Method' which is an innovative resource for teachers which encourages whole school music making in a way that links music with literacy, numeracy and linguistics. Written by Paul Smith in response to a research paper from the Institute of Education, The VOCES8 Method exists to have a positive impact on how students learn through music. It helps better prepare students for their school day and develop key learning skills which will have a conscious and sub-conscious effect on their academic learning process.

Registration for students is a fixed price of $25 per student. 1 teacher per 10 students is required to attend and is free of charge, but must be registered so total numbers are within capacity. Each workshop is limited to 200 students and 20 teachers. To allow for a range of schools to attned, each school will be limited registering 46 students and 4 teachers.

Payment can be made by debit/credit card, Google Pay, PayPal or via an invoice. Note that when paying by invoice, you will be asked to include extra details on the invoice:

  • Purchase Order Number (not required to complete the order, but your school may require one to be included)
  • The first name and surname of the person receiving the invoice
  • School Name (under business name)
  • School's Address

The invoice will get sent to the person making the booking and payment is required within 7 days. Your booking will be held during this period but only confirmed, with tickets issued, once payment has been received.

While in Perth, VOCES8 will also present workshops for secondary students and for singers 18 years and up, and will perform a concert on the evening of the 19th of June.
